In case you did not make it through my whole message yesterday, I ended with this paragraph:

So what is it...with all the widespread deception that seems to be in abundant supply during these ‘last days’...which seems to be coming in like a ‘flood’? How many of you have been overwhelmed with the ‘back and forth’ that stems from all the political unrest surrounding various tragic events that are taking place of late. You see a handful of videos here, then read other commentaries there, and you don’t even know what to make of it all or who to believe. It almost makes you want to throw your hands up in the air...and then bury your head in the sand and scream out: “No More!”. What if I told you this wave of deception and lies was no accident, and actually part of a larger ‘scheme or design?

If we’re just talking about ‘current events’...you have to admit- it’s been overwhelming of late, and downright depressing, regardless of which side of the fence you want to take and argue. And while I would never imply that the tragic loss of anyone’s life is a mere ‘distraction’, I keep hearing that occasional comment made: “Anyone notice how we’re not talking about the ‘Epstein files’ anymore?

I only point that out...not to engage in that debate, but simply to remind us all how often many folks seem to question...when such major ‘distractions and events’ capture our attention...’what is really happening behind the scenes...that we are not paying attention to?’ And this would be the theme of what I want to speak about here today.

I came across this 'quote' some time back that resonated with me, and I want to share it with you here today, attributed to a German historian & philosopher Hannah Arendt, (1906-1975) who allegedly wrote:

“This constant lying is not aimed at making the people believe a lie, but at ensuring that no one believes anything anymore. A people that can no longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong. And such a people, deprived of the power to think and judge, is, without knowing and willing it, completely subjected to the rule of lies. With such a people, you can do whatever you want.” (**Apparently this is more of a 'paraphrase' and not a direct quote from Ms. Arendt, but it does align with many things she thought and expressed in her writings; and it certainly aligns with much of what we are witnessing today in several 'realms' **)

I believe we ‘are there’...again. Whether we are speaking to things we are witnessing in the ‘natural world’...or in the ‘spiritual world’ today...how often do we hear the anguished cry of people who are torn within and simply ‘don’t know what to believe anymore’? Perhaps you have found yourself asking the same question Pontius Pilate asked Jesus: “What is truth?” (John 18:38). The irony of that particular scene found in scripture...was that the ‘Truth’ was standing right in front of him...and he either failed to see it...or did not want...to see it. (John 14:6)

Remember, Jesus made it known that all who are ‘in darkness don’t always want to come to the light because they love the darkness more’ (John 3:19-21).

So what is behind the flood of lies and deception that is ‘flooding’ the earth today? All I know to do is point you to scripture. And I don’t know who needs to hear this, but maybe it might help if we began to turn down both FOX and CNN news...and turn more wholeheartedly to the One ‘news source’ that has stood the test of time, which would be God’s word.  "Let God be true...and every man a liar!" (Rom. 3:4)

Hopefully you noticed the word I used there about ‘flooding’ the world today. It’s an appropriate word given the fact Jesus likened the last days as a coming ‘flood’ (Matt. 24:39; Luke 17:27); and He also hinted that it would be a ‘flood’ that would test our foundations (Matt. 7:24-27). Ever wonder who might be behind...these ‘floods’? (Isa. 59:19). Take a look at Revelation 12:15- where we read about this ‘serpent’ who “spews water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the...flood.”  (What do we usually associate with coming out of one's 'mouth'? Words, maybe?)

If you scroll/glance back up a few verses, you’ll make the connection there that we are talking about that ‘great dragon who was cast out...that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan who deceives the whole world” (12:9). Seems he has a limited time to conduct his business as well (12). That would also be the same ‘wicked one’ whom John says “we know the whole world is influenced or swayed by’ (1 John 5:19). And Jesus referred to him as the ‘father of all lies’ (John 8:44).

Now allow me to connect a few more dots here, or ‘puzzle pieces’ that might help you grasp some more insight, especially in light of what I wrote about yesterday; I hope you read that one....because this is really important.

Please turn to 2 Cor. 11 and read vs. 3-4 & 13-15. Paul seems to express concern that if we are not careful, we too (brethren) can be easily deceived in the same manner in which Eve was deceived by this ‘serpent’. And that began with a simple question of “Has God really said...?” (Gen. 3:1-5). Paul goes on to suggest that we can actually be taken in with  counterfeit gospels...as we end up following ‘another Jesus’ and yes...even ‘receiving another/different spirit’. Would you please take a moment with that one.

Now...last passage for today and please turn to 2 Thess.2:9-12. There is nothing I can add to this text as it is pretty straight forward. Who is ultimately behind this wave or deception and delusion, according to vs. 11? And do you read there that the reason... this wave of deception comes...is because people did not ‘receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved’? (10).

I have often heard it said over the years...that people are gonna believe what they ‘want to believe’.

One of the temptations I have had to fight of late...is wanting to get drug into trying to decipher what is truth and what is fiction regarding all the drama playing out in the world today; and the Holy Spirit keeps pulling me back and admonishing me to stay fixated on the truth that sets men free...so they can be free indeed (John 8:32-36). Today was my 1541st daily message/post that has spanned over the past 4+ years. Does anyone really believe I could crank these out on a daily basis like I’ve done...on my own? I sure know better.
