Assuming here that you are familiar with the ‘Midnight Ride of Paul Revere’...(the actual event and not Longfellow’s poem)... I have to wonder if American history would have been altered in any way... had he not made that famous ride at midnight...warning the sleeping colonist at Concord and Lexington of the coming invasion by British troops. My hunch is the war still would have ensued, but just gotten off to a slower start after suffering probable losses in those two townships. But he did indeed begin that ride at night which awoke the colonists to take up arms so they could defend themselves against the invading enemy.
Anyone see where I am going here with this, especially after reading yesterday’s post?
I’m a bit concerned that while many professing ‘believers’ today...may hear much talk of the approaching ‘Day of the Lord’ (1 Thess. 5:2-4)...is it possible that they might not be totally up to speed as to what is going to actually going to take place...and happen during this time? Or have many been lulled to sleep by a false sense of security that they will be ‘long gone’ from here...thanks to the great ‘rapture bus’ (my term) that has whisked them all away to safety? (John 17:14-15)
Could I encourage you to take a moment and read through the first chapter of Zephaniah, and as you do, please be open to the idea that there is a ‘prophetic spiritual layer’ to what you are reading here that foretells of a future event(s). You might also want to underline verses 12, which reads:
“And it shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And punish the men who are settled in complacency,...who say in their heart, ‘The Lord will not do good, nor will He do evil.’(12)”
I should also point out a chilling warning that we find in Amos 6:1: “Woe to you...who are ‘at ease’ in Zion...”.
Friends...I am no ‘Paul Revere’... but I have zero doubt as to what my ‘assignment’ has been the past 3-4 years with posting these daily blog/lessons. In fact, this week marks the 5th anniversary of my personal spiritual ‘awakening’ that took place and which I have referred to often here. (If you missed it, you might read this post https://foodforsheep.blogspot.com/2021/10/10_24.html?m=1 )
As I mentioned the other day in a post, we Americans have no frame of reference or experience... to know what it is like to have our homeland invaded, as so many others around the world have experienced, and continue to do so today. But those days could change soon...and yet...this ‘invasion’ that is coming is not what many would suspect. If you are looking for the Russians, or the Chinese, or ISIS,...or ‘illegal immigrants from South America’...to be the ‘invaders’, then you might be in for a rude awakening.
For anyone who feels compelled to study a bit more on this, spend some time reading Isaiah 5 & 13. As you do, remember Isaiah tell us that the ‘enemy comes in like a flood’ (59:19) which then leads me to remind you what Jesus spoke about the inevitable floods that are coming to ‘destroy and carry people away....just as it was in the days of Noah’. (Matt. 7:24;27; 24:37-39) And who exactly is our ‘enemy’? (1 Pet 5:8). Now take a look at how both Paul and Amos described the coming ‘Day of the Lord’ in 1 Thess. 5:1-11 and Amos 5:18-27. I’ll meet you back here tomorrow, Lord willing.
